The thesis will focus on the study of Formula 1 from a sociology and mediatic point of view, examining two audiovisual products which have contributed to its popularity: the TV series Drive to Survive and the film F1: The Movie. The aim is to highlight how people experience sports through the sociology of emotions, as well as bring to light the shift from a more technical narrative of sport to a more spectacularized one. The research is structured in an initial theoretical part dedicated to the study of the sociology of emotions and sport, followed by an analysis of the TV series and the film. This analysis is also supported by semi-structured interviews with four Formula 1 fans, with the goal of exploring their experiences with the two audiovisual products and their way of living the sport.
