In recent years, the use of alternatives to detention in Italy has increased significantly. These measures allow individuals to serve their sentences outside prison facilities, while remaining within the community. This paper aims to analyze the practical implementation of these measures and the everyday dynamics that characterize their functioning. To this end, an exploratory study was conducted at the External Penal Enforcement Office in Padova, through interviews with social service officers and pedagogists. Their perspectives contributed to identifying the critical issues, potentialities, and operational practices related to alternative measures to detention.

Abstract
In recent years, the use of alternatives to detention in Italy has increased significantly. These measures allow individuals to serve their sentences outside prison facilities, while remaining within the community. This paper aims to analyze the practical implementation of these measures and the everyday dynamics that characterize their functioning. To this end, an exploratory study was conducted at the External Penal Enforcement Office in Padova, through interviews with social service officers and pedagogists. Their perspectives contributed to identifying the critical issues, potentialities, and operational practices related to alternative measures to detention.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
