This thesis work deals with extending a Bayesian approach to factor analysis through the use of auxiliary information (covariates), based on an Unordered Generalized Lower Triangular (UGLT) identification structure. The work is based on a recent publication written and provided by my supervisor, which treats the aforementioned approach and applies it to a dataset of ETF returns, and whose auxiliary information is sector membership. The present thesis aims to introduce a new quantitative variable (ETF fund size) compared to the dummies already used. The starting hypothesis is that funds of similar sizes tend to have correlated dynamics, regardless of sector membership. In support of the hypothesis, a Monte Carlo simulation analysis is carried out for two different scenarios: in the first, the covariance depends only on sector membership; in the second, it also depends on fund size. Three different models are analyzed to see which of them best captures the real covariance structure: a sector-only model, a continuous-only model (AUM), or a model with both covariates. Finally, this method is applied to real data downloaded from the Refinitiv platform, concerning the daily returns of ETFs in the 2022–2025 period.

Abstract
Finally, this method is applied to real data downloaded from the Refinitiv platform, concerning the daily returns of ETFs in the 2022–2025 period.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
