In recent years, the space industry has undergone a profound transformation thanks to the development of reusable launchers, which represent an innovative alternative to traditional single-use systems. This paper analyzes the maintenance costs of reusable rockets, assessing their technical, economic, and organizational impact. The study examines in particular post-flight maintenance processes, the main cost categories, and the optimization strategies adopted by companies in the aerospace sector. The paper compares the economic sustainability of reuse with that of building space launch vehicles from scratch. The case study of SpaceX's Falcon 9 allows these methodologies to be applied to a real-world context, highlighting how reusability allows for a significant reduction in cost per mission, despite the increase in maintenance activities and logistical complexities.

Abstract
In recent years, the space industry has undergone a profound transformation thanks to the development of reusable launchers, which represent an innovative alternative to traditional single-use systems. This paper analyzes the maintenance costs of reusable rockets, assessing their technical, economic, and organizational impact. The study examines in particular post-flight maintenance processes, the main cost categories, and the optimization strategies adopted by companies in the aerospace sector. The paper compares the economic sustainability of reuse with that of building space launch vehicles from scratch. The case study of SpaceX's Falcon 9 allows these methodologies to be applied to a real-world context, highlighting how reusability allows for a significant reduction in cost per mission, despite the increase in maintenance activities and logistical complexities.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
