Il linguaggio calcistico nel giornalismo sportivo contemporaneo: un'analisi linguistica degli articoli della Gazzetta dello Sport

This thesis analyzes the language of football, focusing specifically on its contemporary use. It initially traces the early stages of the spread of football in Italy and of the sport press, from the earliest days to the present day, examining the key role of the sport journalist, who is not merely a reporter but an interpreter of the events. The research then focuses on the linguistic aspects of sport language, especially on its lexical, syntactic, and rhetorical characteristics. The dissertation then develops with the analysis of some articles about the 2026 Champions League matches, selected from La Gazzetta dello Sport, with the aim of identifying the linguistic aspects previously examined in contemporary journalistic writing.

La presente tesi analizza il linguaggio calcistico con particolare attenzione al suo uso nella contemporaneità. Inizialmente ripercorre le prime tappe della diffusione del gioco del calcio in Italia e della stampa sportiva, dai suoi albori fino ai giorni nostri, approfondendo il ruolo chiave del giornalista sportivo che non si limita ad essere un mero cronista, ma un interprete degli eventi a cui assiste. La ricerca verte poi sugli aspetti linguistici del linguaggio sportivo, soffermandosi in particolare sulle caratteristiche del linguaggio calcistico dal punto di vista lessicale, sintattico e retorico. Successivamente, l’indagine si sviluppa con l’analisi di alcuni articoli riguardanti delle partite di Champions League del 2026, estrapolati dalla Gazzetta dello Sport, con l’obiettivo di riscontrare gli aspetti linguistici esaminati precedentemente nella scrittura giornalistica contemporanea.
