This thesis analyses the communicative and reputational crisis faced by Juventus FC following its involvement in the European Super League project, announced on 18 April 2021 and collapsed within forty-eight hours. The work is structured in three chapters. The first reconstructs the structural context of the crisis: the economic and cultural transformations of European professional football since the 1990s, the clash between the North American closed-league model and the European Sports Model founded on sporting merit, and the genesis of the project through the central role of Andrea Agnelli, chairman of both Juventus and the European Club Association. The second chapter examines the club's communicative management of the crisis across three dimensions: the failure of crisis management, highlighted through a comparison between the bureaucratic language of Juventus's official statements and the direct apologies issued by Liverpool and Manchester United; the strategic silence adopted by the club, read as an unplanned avoiding silence devoid of any public accountability; and the prolonged institutional conflict with UEFA, lasting over two years. The third chapter analyses the "Rhetorical Arena" to examine the voices that filled the communicative vacuum left by the club: the reaction of fans, framed as co-producers of value and guardians of community sporting identity; the differential media framing between British and Italian press; and the long-term impact on the club's reputational capital, including an assessment of the recovery initiatives undertaken under new ownership from 2023 onwards. The thesis argues that the Super League crisis does not represent an isolated episode, but the manifestation of an unresolved structural tension between the logic of contemporary football business and the cultural and identity values of European sport.
