The paper analyses the Italian migratory flow to Argentina in the nineteenth century, examining the economic causes that pushed thousands of people to leave post-unification Italy. The study compares the expectations of migrants with the socio-economic reality found on arrival, deepening their contribution to the development of agriculture and the Argentine labour market.

L'elaborato analizza il flusso migratorio italiano verso l'Argentina nel XIX secolo, esaminando le cause economiche che hanno spinto migliaia di persone a lasciare l'Italia post-unitaria. Lo studio mette a confronto le aspettative dei migranti con la realtà socio-economica trovata all'arrivo, approfondendo il loro contributo allo sviluppo dell'agricoltura e del mercato del lavoro argentino.
