Abstract

This thesis analyses the design and implementation of a supplier ESG monitoring system for MeteRSit S.r.l., developed during an internship at the Sustainability Department of SIT S.p.A. The work opens with a description of the SIT Group, analysed through Porter's Five Forces framework The thesis then describes the supplier sustainability monitoring process implemented for the first time for MeteRSit. The system collects ESG data from suppliers, aggregates it in an Excel file and visualises it through a management dashboard. The process is analysed by applying Slack, Brandon-Jones and Burgess's five Performance Objectives model — quality, speed, dependability, flexibility and cost. The analysis shows that the main shortcomings are spread across multiple dimensions, with the greatest impact on speed, dependability and cost. Process and outcome KPIs are proposed to make the system measurable over time, and the key improvement measures are identified: the institutionalisation of the process on an annual basis and the standardisation of the data collection protocol. The work is framed within the regulatory context of the CSRD and the supply chain due diligence literature, demonstrating how tools traditionally applied to production processes can be effectively adapted to the analysis of information-based processes in the field of corporate sustainability.

SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY: DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF A SUPPLIER ESG MONITORING SYSTEM — THE METERSIT S.R.L. CASE
