This thesis examines the relationship between language education and literary education. First, it addresses language education through the broader lens of reading literacy, framing it as the primary pathway to fulfilling the educational mission outlined by the Italian Constitution and combating both emerging and persistent forms of social marginalization. Second, the study explores text comprehension as an indispensable prerequisite for active citizenship, arguing that a robust understanding of textual processes and typologies can significantly reinforce the teaching of Italian language and literature—both viewed as fundamental tools for democratic and personal growth. Third, the thesis analyzes past and present ministerial guidelines to trace advancements and setbacks within the linguistic-literary curriculum. Finally, the concluding section addresses the challenge of ensuring that texts are no longer treated merely as "pretexts." To this end, a selection of literary fragments is organized into an anthological framework designed to prioritize reading comprehension while fully safeguarding students' interpretative freedom.

Abstract
Finally, the concluding section addresses the challenge of ensuring that texts are no longer treated merely as "pretexts." To this end, a selection of literary fragments is organized into an anthological framework designed to prioritize reading comprehension while fully safeguarding students' interpretative freedom.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
