This study aims to understand and explore the role played by the educator and the legislator in the thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, through a careful reading of his political writings (the "Discourses"), "The Social Contract" and "Emile". Drawing on the numerous interpretations offered by scholars, we trace the development of Rousseau’s thought – underpinned by his critique of society and his opposition to the"philosophers of natural law", regarding the concept of Nature – in order to identify the process by which the concept of Man was constructed and put into practice. By attempting to link pedagogical reflection to the political dimension, we come to establish a fundamental connection between these two figures, each of whom, through the specific nature of their actions, emerges as a necessary condition for the realisation of modern Man.

Abstract
This study aims to understand and explore the role played by the educator and the legislator in the thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, through a careful reading of his political writings (the "Discourses"), "The Social Contract" and "Emile". Drawing on the numerous interpretations offered by scholars, we trace the development of Rousseau’s thought – underpinned by his critique of society and his opposition to the"philosophers of natural law", regarding the concept of Nature – in order to identify the process by which the concept of Man was constructed and put into practice. By attempting to link pedagogical reflection to the political dimension, we come to establish a fundamental connection between these two figures, each of whom, through the specific nature of their actions, emerges as a necessary condition for the realisation of modern Man.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
