This thesis aims to investigate the personality of Giovanni Testori, placing an attestation on the work "Sfaust" (1990). To fully understand the scope of this text and the "anomalous" nature that the author represents during the twentieth century, it was necessary to broaden the investigation by observing how the myth of Faust was established within the Italian cultural landscape. Once this attitude in Mediterranean literature has been reconstructed, the thesis focuses on the Lombard author by applying to his specifically theatrical works an analytical approach focused on two of his key concepts of the author: tormented religiosity and the importance of corporeality, characteristics that bring profound formal and thematic innovations within his repertoire. Precisely to show how the twentieth century was inhabited by the theme of the crisis of man, the paper offers a close comparison with another prominent author, who exoited in 1904, namely Luigi Pirandello, who has a conception of the stage, the body and language diametrically opposed to that of Testori. The discussion concludes with a comparison of two other significant reworkings of the Faust myth in the mid-twentieth century: "Faust 67" by Tommaso Landolfi and "Faust. A Disguise" by Edoardo Sanguineti, works in which the legend has transformed itself into a mirror of the contemporary crisis experienced by writers in the second half of the century.

Abstract
This thesis aims to investigate the personality of Giovanni Testori, placing an attestation on the work "Sfaust" (1990).
