Mosaici e pavimenti nella Regio II, Apulia et Calabria (IV a.C.-III d.C.)

In this thesis we will analyze the most extensive and informative Roman mosaics in the Apulian territory up to the 3rd century AD. We will start with a general explanation of the history of the mosaic, and then continue with a brief description of the Romanization in Puglia which will explain the reason why there are Roman floor mosaics in the region. Furthermore, Greek and Latin literary sources will be used to introduce the cities where the floors were found.

In questa tesi si andranno ad analizzare i mosaici romani più estesi e con maggiori informazioni in territorio pugliese fino al III secolo d.C. Si partirà da una spiegazione generale della storia del mosaico, per poi proseguire con una breve descrizione della romanizzazione in Puglia che andrà a spiegare il motivo per cui sono presenti mosaici pavimentali romani nella regione. Inoltre, ci si servirà delle fonti letterarie greche e latine per introdurre le città in cui i pavimenti sono stati ritrovati.
