This paper explores the evolution and the history of the concept of psychological well being among parents of children with externalizing behavioral problems. It focuses on scientific literature, specifically on cross-examining the main theoretical frameworks, as Stress and Coping models of R. Lazarus and S. Folkman, the General Adaptation Syndrome of H. Selye, and the Ecological Systems theory of U. Bronfenbrenner. Hence, this assessment demonstrates how primary caregivers' stress operates as a dysfunctional relational organizer within the social environment, compromising their psychological well-being. Ultimately, the research highlights the importance of tailored clinical and targeted interventions for primary caregivers, emphasizing the importance and efficacy of support groups, prevention and training programs.
