“It’s a matter of time”: the development of time perception and how it helps us navigate life

Time perception is the subjective experience of the passage of time and it is one of the most useful skills the human brain is responsible for, as it plays a crucial role in decision-making, memory formation and time management. The dissertation will go through general functioning and uses of time perception in adults, discussing the functioning, theoretical models, anatomy, uses and measurement. It will then move on to the development of time perception in children, discussing the differences between ages, the important milestones in its development and some of the cases in which time perception does not work as it should.
