This paper analyzes the territorial distribution of gambling among Italian adolescents, with particular attention to the North-South gradient, the role of territorial recreational resources, and gender differences. The survey is based on HBSC 2022 data relating to a sample of 44,755 Italian students (50.5% male; 15-17 years old), integrated with regional indicators from ISTAT surveys. The analysis of territorial distribution highlighted a North-South gradient in the prevalence of gambling behavior in life, with higher values in the Central-South and Island regions. Using multilevel logistic regression models, the study highlights a higher prevalence of gambling behavior among boys than girls; among the contextual indicators examined, the provision of sporting events per inhabitant emerges as a possible factor associated with a lower likelihood of having gambled at least once in one's life. The findings highlight the need to interpret adolescent gambling not only as individual behavior, but also as a phenomenon influenced by the structural characteristics of the life context.
