This thesis aims to investigate the functioning and application of Brain-Computer Interfaces(BCIs) and their potential role in integrating individuals with ADHD into the workforce. Initially, the text analyzes Brain-Computer Interfaces as a technological system that enables direct communication between the human brain and an external device, bypassing normal peripheral output channels such as muscles or nerves. Neurofeedback is then taken into consideration as an innovative method for regulating brain activity through the brain itself. Indeed, neurofeedback has already been utilized to assist individuals with ADHD, yielding generally positive results and proving to be a valid alternative to psychotropic medications, albeit with fewer side effects. This work proposes a new integrated model designed to facilitate the entry of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders into the workplace, particularly in roles that require sustained attention and where automation plays a significant part. Individuals with ADHD face challenges in maintaining focus, tend to procrastinate, and experience difficulties in strategic planning. Thanks to neurofeedback, BCIs and AI, it is possible to create a more suitable and functional working environment for these individuals. Finally, the potential risks of these emerging technologies are analyzed, which, by relying on neural data, involve extremely sensitive information. The innovative approach to this issue therefore calls for new regulations that also take into account the ethical aspects of the results obtained.

Abstract

Application of Brain-Computer Interfaces in the Workplace: Towards a Greater Inclusion of Workers with ADHD
