This thesis is devoted to the study of topological solitons in classical field theory. In particular, it focuses on localized static solutions of the kink type in nonlinear scalar field models, analyzing their topological origin, stability, and energetic properties. The analysis is then extended to higher spatial dimensions, where such configurations admit an interpretation in terms of domain walls. Classical topological vortices are also discussed, with particular attention paid to the role of symmetries and the topological structure of the vacuum manifold. The discussion is carried out entirely within the framework of classical field theory, without including aspects of quantum field theory, and aims to provide a coherent introduction to the main topological defects arising in nonlinear field models.

Abstract
This thesis is devoted to the study of topological solitons in classical field theory. In particular, it focuses on localized static solutions of the kink type in nonlinear scalar field models, analyzing their topological origin, stability, and energetic properties. The analysis is then extended to higher spatial dimensions, where such configurations admit an interpretation in terms of domain walls. Classical topological vortices are also discussed, with particular attention paid to the role of symmetries and the topological structure of the vacuum manifold. The discussion is carried out entirely within the framework of classical field theory, without including aspects of quantum field theory, and aims to provide a coherent introduction to the main topological defects arising in nonlinear field models.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
