This work concerns the systematic study of gastropods from the Ladinian Lagerstätte of Mount Pelsa (Agordo Dolomites), a Cassian-type silicified mollusc assemblage that documents the early stages of the adaptive radiation of the modern fauna in the Middle Triassic. After separating the gastropods from the other faunal components, material from four detrital samples was classified on a morphological basis and compared among the different collection sites. The results reveal marked compositional and dimensional heterogeneity among the samples, with some morphotypes persisting throughout the area and others showing a limited distribution, suggesting the existence of a mosaic of microenvironments within the lagoon.

Abstract
This work concerns the systematic study of gastropods from the Ladinian Lagerstätte of Mount Pelsa (Agordo Dolomites), a Cassian-type silicified mollusc assemblage that documents the early stages of the adaptive radiation of the modern fauna in the Middle Triassic. After separating the gastropods from the other faunal components, material from four detrital samples was classified on a morphological basis and compared among the different collection sites. The results reveal marked compositional and dimensional heterogeneity among the samples, with some morphotypes persisting throughout the area and others showing a limited distribution, suggesting the existence of a mosaic of microenvironments within the lagoon.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
