Recent studies on Parkinson's disease have shown how the activity of the gut microbiota and the various metabolites it produces, such as short-chain fatty acids and the protein alpha-synuclein, influence the pathogenesis and symptom expression of this disease. This thesis investigates correlations between intestinal dysbiosis and the development of neurodegenerative diseases through the action of the gut-brain axis, with particular attention to Parkinson's disease.

Abstract
Recent studies on Parkinson's disease have shown how the activity of the gut microbiota and the various metabolites it produces, such as short-chain fatty acids and the protein alpha-synuclein, influence the pathogenesis and symptom expression of this disease. This thesis investigates correlations between intestinal dysbiosis and the development of neurodegenerative diseases through the action of the gut-brain axis, with particular attention to Parkinson's disease.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
