Abstract
Growing environmental and health concerns regarding the synthetic insecticides currently in use have intensified the search for sustainable, eco-friendly alternatives. Bioactive compounds derived from marine macroalgae offer a promising solution; many of these exhibit potential insecticidal, repellent, and growth-regulating properties useful for controlling insects and pests. A study by Chanthini et al. (2024) demonstrates that fatty acids extracted from the alga Chaetomorpha antennina can stimulate the natural systemic defenses of tomato plants and highlights their effectiveness in controlling populations of Spodoptera litura, a polyphagous insect that causes significant agricultural damage.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
