The aim of this thesis is to analyse the behaviour of an aerodynamic control surface in the hypersonic regime. This work therefore aims to provide an overview of how the interaction between the boundary layer and the control surface affects its effectiveness and operating conditions. This study first introduces the main physical phenomena characterising hypersonic flight, with particular reference to the formation and development of the boundary layer. It will then analyse the interactions between shock waves and the boundary layer, and their effects on the aerodynamic behaviour of the component with which the flow interacts. Subsequently, the analysis focuses on the development and implementation of geometric solutions for the construction of control surfaces used in hypersonic flight.

Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the behaviour of an aerodynamic control surface in the hypersonic regime. This work therefore aims to provide an overview of how the interaction between the boundary layer and the control surface affects its effectiveness and operating conditions. This study first introduces the main physical phenomena characterising hypersonic flight, with particular reference to the formation and development of the boundary layer. It will then analyse the interactions between shock waves and the boundary layer, and their effects on the aerodynamic behaviour of the component with which the flow interacts. Subsequently, the analysis focuses on the development and implementation of geometric solutions for the construction of control surfaces used in hypersonic flight.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
