This study aims to analyze the state of the art of motorsport cooling systems from the perspective of internal thermo-fluid dynamics, focusing on heat transfer efficiency. Taking the engineering challenges of modern Formula 1—characterized by stringent aerodynamic constraints that necessitate reduced sidepod volumes and extreme packaging—as a reference point, the study examines the resulting optimization of internal flows. It also provides an overview of how these design choices influence external aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics.

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the state of the art of motorsport cooling systems from the perspective of internal thermo-fluid dynamics, focusing on heat transfer efficiency. Taking the engineering challenges of modern Formula 1—characterized by stringent aerodynamic constraints that necessitate reduced sidepod volumes and extreme packaging—as a reference point, the study examines the resulting optimization of internal flows. It also provides an overview of how these design choices influence external aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
