Industry 4.0 is radically transforming manufacturing, driving companies to forge an increasingly tight bond between the physical factory and the digital realm. In this transformation, the Digital Twin is establishing itself as a central tool for modernizing the entire manufacturing sector. This thesis aims to clarify the concept of the Digital Twin and how it can make a difference in the industrial field. The work closely analyzes its primary applications—such as real-time machinery monitoring, predictive maintenance, and resource optimization—and outlines its various typologies: from models focused on a single component or product, to complex systems capable of simulating an entire production line. Furthermore, it addresses the topic of the Human Digital Twin and the reasons why its implementation in companies remains challenging. The core of this study is dedicated to a critical analysis of the most recent scientific literature. The aim is to understand how companies actually operate internally through the study of selected journals and real-world case studies. On one hand, concrete and measurable benefits emerge (such as reduced downtime and increased operational flexibility); on the other hand, significant obstacles are identified (including integration costs, data management and security issues, and the lack of shared standards). In conclusion, the thesis aims to demonstrate that the Digital Twin is a tool offering extraordinary opportunities, carefully weighing its technical limitations and criticalities alongside the positive, innovative aspects that professionals experience every day.

Abstract
In conclusion, the thesis aims to demonstrate that the Digital Twin is a tool offering extraordinary opportunities, carefully weighing its technical limitations and criticalities alongside the positive, innovative aspects that professionals experience every day.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
