This paper describes the internship activity carried out at the analytical laboratory of the Research and Development department of Zhermack SPA. The main objective of the work is to evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-technique analytical approach for the advanced characterization of silicone polymeric materials and for the investigation of competitor products. Specifically, the study illustrates the integrated application of several instrumental techniques: gel permeation chromatography (GPC/SEC) for the determination of molecular weight distribution, infrared (FTIR-ATR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for structural elucidation and functional group identification, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) combined with specific chemical extraction methods. The results demonstrate how the synergistic combination of such methodologies makes it possible not only to rigorously monitor the impact of formulation modifications during synthesis, but also to conduct effective quantitative reverse engineering protocols. Finally, the work highlights the essential role of analytical chemistry as an innovation tool in the polysiloxanes sector.

Abstract
Finally, the work highlights the essential role of analytical chemistry as an innovation tool in the polysiloxanes sector.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
