This thesis aims to analyse purchasing behaviour in the sustainable fashion market, drawing on a sample of 401 Italian respondents, comparing bio-based garments and second-hand garments. The aim is to assess to what extent income and interest in quality explain willingness to pay for sustainability and actually observed purchasing behaviour, and whether these mechanisms are consistent across the two markets. The analysis employs linear regression models, generalized linear models with a logit link function, and a structural equation model that combines the attitudinal and behavioural perspectives. The results show a positive effect of income on the premium price consumers are willing to pay for bio-based garments and on the discount they require for second-hand garments; this effect is offset as the importance attributed to quality increases. In actual purchasing behaviour, however, the two markets diverge: in the second-hand market income and interest in quality reduce the probability of purchase, while in the bio-based market they lose relevance, pointing to an attitude-behaviour gap.

Abstract
In actual purchasing behaviour, however, the two markets diverge: in the second-hand market income and interest in quality reduce the probability of purchase, while in the bio-based market they lose relevance, pointing to an attitude-behaviour gap.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
