This thesis project aims to investigate the discrepancy between chronological and biological age in a geriatric canine population. The primary objective is to develop and validate a Frailty Index, constructed from a large baseline (T0) dataset that includes anamnestic variables, objective clinical examinations, and assessments of physical and cognitive performance. From a methodological perspective, the statistical investigation will be divided into two phases. First, a correlation analysis will be conducted to map the association between age and a broad panel of blood biomarkers (biochemical profile, complete blood count, and electrophoresis). Subsequently, using survival analyses and Cox proportional hazards models, the Frailty Index will be tested as a predictor of 24-month mortality. The study aims to demonstrate that the Frailty Index is a more accurate and independent clinical tool than demographic data alone for estimating life expectancy.

Abstract
The study aims to demonstrate that the Frailty Index is a more accurate and independent clinical tool than demographic data alone for estimating life expectancy.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
