This thesis describes the work carried out during the curricular internship at Eggon Group S.r.l., aimed at the evolution and optimization of an ESP32-based embedded firmware for a data acquisition and telemetry system. The project falls within the context of embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), where reliability, performance, and efficient resource management are key aspects. The work focused on the analysis of the existing software architecture and the subsequent refactoring of the firmware, with particular attention to optimizing data storage operations on an SD card, improving Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication services, and introducing new connectivity features through a Wi-Fi network. The work also addressed data integrity and efficient information transfer, while introducing mechanisms designed to enhance the overall robustness and maintainability of the system.
