This thesis examines the metaphilosophy of Isabelle Stengers. First, it investigates the relationship between Stengers’s thought and that of Alfred North Whitehead, with the aim of highlighting the originality of her modus operandi. It then characterizes philosophy as an adventure situated by the question from which it begins and explores the relationship between philosophical practice and science. Philosophy has the task of attending to the modes of abstraction that are not explicitly reflected upon within scientific practices and, by virtue of this function, reveals itself to be intrinsically transformative. It is this aspect that makes philosophical thought capable of what Stengers calls “civilization”. Philosophy is cosmopolitical, and the attitude it encourages can be of enormous help to us in the age of Gaia’s intrusion.

Abstract
Philosophy is cosmopolitical, and the attitude it encourages can be of enormous help to us in the age of Gaia’s intrusion.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
