The shift to the social investment paradigm has led to the emergence of educational welfare, which aims to promote human capital by combating educational poverty through the cooperation of a multi-stakeholder network. In particular, the impact of migration flows on education systems and educational offerings in general has necessitated a reorganization of educational welfare interventions to ensure the inclusion of international students. To assess the effectiveness of these measures, it is essential to implement Social Impact Evaluation (SIE), aimed at identifying short-, medium-, and long-term effects and highlighting the real added value produced by existing projects. This thesis aims to investigate the effectiveness of second language (L2) laboratories for the specific category of newly arrived foreign minors. The research is part of a broader impact evaluation study conducted by the Department of Political Sciences, Law, and International Studies of the University of Padua regarding the TRE project, launched by the volunteer association "Popoli Insieme" in the Padua area. The research was conducted using both qualitative techniques, such as naturalistic observation and semi-structured interviews, and quantitative techniques, such as semi-structured questionnaires. The results from the analysis of the collected data revealed overall positive outcomes, corresponding to the class reaching level A1, maintaining high motivation to continue learning Italian, and establishing authentic relationships not only among peers but also with the teacher. In conclusion, the methodologies proposed by SIE are effective in demonstrating the short-term social impact of the intervention under analysis. However, the critical issue related to the lack of access to the field to investigate the medium- and long-term social impacts is discussed. This opportunity would prove essential for drawing up a comprehensive evaluation of the project capable of suggesting future systematization of the intervention in the local area.

Abstract
This opportunity would prove essential for drawing up a comprehensive evaluation of the project capable of suggesting future systematization of the intervention in the local area.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
