The thesis compares parallel passages between the first and second books of Agesilaus and the third and fourth books of the Hellenica written by the Greek historian Xenophon. The pairs of passages suggest instances of repetition, mutual exchange, or even self-citation by the author himself. The work has three objectives: a comprehensive review of the related passages, highlighting and explaining their differences in light of the textual commentary and previous bibliography; identifying the reasons behind the repetition of these passages in nearly identical form in the two works; and formulating hypotheses primarily regarding the chronology of Agesilaus and Hellenica, Xenophon's working method, and the purposes of the two works and their author.

Abstract
The thesis compares parallel passages between the first and second books of Agesilaus and the third and fourth books of the Hellenica written by the Greek historian Xenophon. The pairs of passages suggest instances of repetition, mutual exchange, or even self-citation by the author himself. The work has three objectives: a comprehensive review of the related passages, highlighting and explaining their differences in light of the textual commentary and previous bibliography; identifying the reasons behind the repetition of these passages in nearly identical form in the two works; and formulating hypotheses primarily regarding the chronology of Agesilaus and Hellenica, Xenophon's working method, and the purposes of the two works and their author.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
