Alterità e riconoscimento. Il tema del doppio nei racconti di E. A. Poe e Tommaso Landolfi

This paper aims to analyze the literary device of the double in the stories of E.A. Poe and Tommaso Landolfi. It focuses on the intertextuality between the two authors, based on the “Poe effect”, which originates from the influence of the American author, in primis in Europe, and then, thanks to France, in Italy. The first chapter explores the theory and story of the double and, secondly, it is dedicated to the contribute of the psychoanalytical studies of Otto Rank e Sigmund Freud on the theme. The following chapters discuss specularly the theme of the double applied to the narrative production of E.A. Poe and Tommaso Landolfi. They both examine firstly each poetics, highlighting how it is steeped in the theme of the double and, secondly, they analyze the points of contact between their stories.

Questo elaborato ha lo scopo di analizzare il doppio come dispositivo letterario nei racconti di E.A. Poe e Tommaso Landolfi. Si focalizza sull’intertestualità tra i due autori, alla luce dell’“effetto Poe”, che viene a crearsi dall’influenza che lo scrittore americano ha, dapprima in Europa, e poi, grazie alla Francia, in Italia. Il primo capitolo si concentra sulla teoria e storia del doppio e, successivamente, si dedica al contributo degli studi psicanalitici di Otto Rank e Sigmund Freud sull’analisi del tema. I successivi capitoli si occupano specularmente del tema del doppio applicato alla produzione narrativa di E.A. Poe e Tommaso Landolfi. Entrambi si focalizzano in primis sulla poetica di ciascuno, rimarcando come questa sia intrisa del tema del doppio e, successivamente, analizzano i punti di contatto tra i loro racconti.
