The thesis analyzes Sarah Pucill's film Magic Mirror (2013) as a tribute, reinterpretation, and reworking of Claude Cahun's work from photographic to cinematic form. After tracing Pucill's poetics in the context of experimental and queer cinema, and the central themes in Cahun's work — self-representation, cross-dressing, and identity exploration — the study focuses on the visual and narrative strategies adopted by Pucill to translate Cahun's texts and photographs into moving images. The analysis highlights how the mirror, the mask, and the body become tools for investigating and representing the multiplicity and transformation of identity. The thesis shows how the distant dialogue between the two artists highlights the persistence and relevance of reflections on the complexity of identity and self-representation.
