The thesis analyses the evolution of the Mestre area during the medieval period, focusing on the stretch of the lagoon margin extending from Fusina to Tessera. Historical and bibliographical sources provide the basis for reconstructing the development of Mestre and the surrounding areas, while taking into account the role of the natural environment, woodlands, waterways and communication routes that contributed to shaping this territory. Particular attention is devoted to the area of Fusina, with reference to the religious, economic and commercial role played by the monastery of Sant’Ilario and its relations with Venice, Treviso and other nearby centres. The analysis therefore also examines the relationship between environmental transformations and the development of settlements, with reference to the “amphibious” character of this territory, where land and water meet to shape both the landscape and human activities. In its concluding section, the thesis addresses the contemporary enhancement of the historical and cultural heritage of Mestre’s historic centre. Through discussions with local tourism professionals, it seeks to understand the strategies currently adopted to promote and enhance its heritage and how these strategies influence the contemporary cultural offer.

Abstract
Through discussions with local tourism professionals, it seeks to understand the strategies currently adopted to promote and enhance its heritage and how these strategies influence the contemporary cultural offer.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
