This paper addresses the management of corporate crises from a communications perspective, aiming to understand the origins of reputational crises and identify the best ways to preserve and restore the affected company's image. The first chapter explores the meaning of the term "crisis" and outlines the primary causes and types of critical events an organization may face. It then analyzes the various stages of a crisis's development and the corresponding response strategies, placing particular emphasis on the central role of crisis communication. The second chapter focuses on crisis communication in the digital age. It examines the impact of social media and new online platforms, analyzing how these tools have radically transformed the media landscape, amplified reputational risks for companies, and established new communication paradigms based on timeliness and transparency. The third chapter examines two case studies to evaluate the effectiveness of the communication strategies employed: the Barilla case (2013) and the Melegatti case (2015). For each, the study analyzes the dynamics that triggered the crisis and the responses provided by the respective companies. Through this comparative analysis, the paper highlights strategic errors to avoid and identifies key best practices for safeguarding and rebuilding corporate reputation.
