This research analyzes the contribution of professional social work to the comprehensive care of individuals supported by the ASFO Local Palliative Care Network (RLCP), situating it within the complexity paradigm that characterizes contemporary palliative care. Preliminary evidence from the fieldwork—comprising participant observation, document analysis, and discussions with staff—revealed the systematic presence of non-clinical needs (economic, housing, relational, and caregiver support) and their informal management by healthcare staff, in the absence of the social worker role mandated by Regional Resolution (DGR) 165/2016 and DM 77/2022. Concurrently, coordination with Territorial Social Service Districts (ATS) is fragmented, sporadic, and lacks shared protocols, representing a structural weakness in the network's governance. The study employs a qualitative methodological design based on semi-structured interviews with three groups of key informants (healthcare professionals, caregivers, and territorial social workers), complemented by participant observation and an analysis of regulatory and organizational frameworks. The objective is to establish a robust empirical foundation for formulating an organizational proposal to structurally integrate social workers into the RLCP, defining their functions, placement, and enabling conditions. Expected outcomes include: the identification of non-clinical needs and current practices; an understanding of professional perspectives; a SWOT analysis of the organizational model; and the formulation of operational recommendations to inform the ongoing revision of the organization’s strategic plan (*Atto Aziendale*) and the regional Diagnostic-Therapeutic-Assistive Pathway (PDTA).

Abstract
Expected outcomes include: the identification of non-clinical needs and current practices; an understanding of professional perspectives; a SWOT analysis of the organizational model; and the formulation of operational recommendations to inform the ongoing revision of the organization’s strategic plan (*Atto Aziendale*) and the regional Diagnostic-Therapeutic-Assistive Pathway (PDTA).| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
