The Alano di Piave section (Belluno): a new geosite of the Veneto Region (Italy) The aim of this work is formalize and promote the geosite of the Alano di Piave section (Belluno, NE Italy). This section, mostly consisting of hemipelagic sediments, is of primary interest because leading candidate for defining the GSSP of Priabonian (Late Eocene). In addition, it contains an expanded and good quality record of the MECO (Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum), a Paleogene warming event. In order to achieve my goal, I collected all the documentation required and I filled the ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale) form for the inventory of Italian geosites. All the documentation has been sent to ISPRA and after ca. 30 days the geosite has been formalized and published in the ISPRA Geodatabase. The Alano di Piave is officially a geosite since November 2013. The second part of the work, focused on the valorization of the section, concerns the planning of a "geotrail", including a "geopanel" with a brief introduction to the site.

Abstract
The Alano di Piave section (Belluno): a new geosite of the Veneto Region (Italy) The aim of this work is formalize and promote the geosite of the Alano di Piave section (Belluno, NE Italy). This section, mostly consisting of hemipelagic sediments, is of primary interest because leading candidate for defining the GSSP of Priabonian (Late Eocene). In addition, it contains an expanded and good quality record of the MECO (Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum), a Paleogene warming event.
