In this thesis we will characterize a High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector. First of all we will find the reverse-bias High Voltage at which the detector is fully depleted. In the second chapter we will study the lateral and the top detector surface comparing the experimental data to a Mont Carlo simulation of the detector geometry. Using the results about detector geometry we will measure the top and the lateral detecetor Dead Layer.

Abstract

In this thesis we will characterize a High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector. First of all we will find the reverse-bias High Voltage at which the detector is fully depleted. In the second chapter we will study the lateral and the top detector surface comparing the experimental data to a Mont Carlo simulation of the detector geometry. Using the results about detector geometry we will measure the top and the lateral detecetor Dead Layer.
