Type 1 Diabetes is characterized by the destruction of the beta cells. The consequent insulin deficiency leads to chronic hyperglycaemic events, requiring a strict glycaemic control. Several subcutaneous insulin therapies are available, but in some patients with T1D, only CIPII therapy manages to avoid excessive glycemic excursions. The aim of this thesis is to develop a mathematical model to describe the IP insulin absorption in patients with T1D, treated by CIPII therapy.

Abstract

Type 1 Diabetes is characterized by the destruction of the beta cells. The consequent insulin deficiency leads to chronic hyperglycaemic events, requiring a strict glycaemic control. Several subcutaneous insulin therapies are available, but in some patients with T1D, only CIPII therapy manages to avoid excessive glycemic excursions. The aim of this thesis is to develop a mathematical model to describe the IP insulin absorption in patients with T1D, treated by CIPII therapy.
