At the LHC, the decay signal of top quark pairs produced in association with a Higgs boson (ttH), when all final state bodies decay into jet pairs, is deeply concealed within a huge background of inclusive top quark pair production. In this work we try to distinguish the two processes by directly associating each final state parton to an observed hadronic jet, through the minimisation of a χ2 statistic. Three possible choices of the statistic are investigated using simulated samples of the relevant process. Results of the various choices are shown and compared.

Abstract
At the LHC, the decay signal of top quark pairs produced in association with a Higgs boson (ttH), when all final state bodies decay into jet pairs, is deeply concealed within a huge background of inclusive top quark pair production. In this work we try to distinguish the two processes by directly associating each final state parton to an observed hadronic jet, through the minimisation of a χ2 statistic. Three possible choices of the statistic are investigated using simulated samples of the relevant process. Results of the various choices are shown and compared.File in questo prodotto:
