The acoustics of string instruments will be described. Firstly, the motion of the single parts of the instruments will be illustrated. Secondly, the effect that the physics of these parts have on the finished instrument, and the acoustical properties that are important to determine the quality of the instrument. Finally, classical and experimental instruments will be presented.
