Since volcanic and cryovolcanic phenomena are found almost everywhere in the Solar System, it is crucial to study them in order to understand how our Solar System formed and evolved. Volcanic and cryovolcanic phenomena are substantially different: the former are observed on rocky bodies, involve high temperatures and take place where heavy elements are present, while the latter are found on icy satellites, where temperatures are much lower and lighter elements are present. However, both kinds of processes require a heating mechanism, which is usually tidal heating or radioactive decay, and a heat transport mechanism, usually convection or conduction. The purpose of this work is to provide some insight on the main volcanic and cryovolcanic processes found in the Solar System, and the possible mechanisms that drive these processes. For each chapter, the evidence for volcanic or cryovolcanic activity, in the past or at the present time, on different bodies of the Solar System will be illustrated. Some models will also be discussed in order to explain how these processes work within these bodies. Another important matter that will be discussed is the relationship between volcanic and cryovolcanic phenomena and other aspects regarding planetary science, such as surface renewal, evolution of the atmospheres, and the influence on the planetary system to which the active satellites belong. Since these phenomena are ubiquitous in our Solar System, wherever a heating mechanism is present, they provide a useful method of analysis of the evolution of the bodies in which they are observed.
