The negative ion beam extracted from NIO1 experiment is composed by nine beamblets arranged in a 3 × 3 matrix and accelerated up to 60 keV, and its performances are characterized by several diagnostics. Beam diagnostics includes a CMOS linear camera, which collects the photons emitted by the Hα transition due to the beam interaction with the background gas in the drift region. The thesis shows the analysis of the integrated signals of the linear camera, by characterizing beam optics and uniformity at different source and accelerator parameters.

Abstract

The negative ion beam extracted from NIO1 experiment is composed by nine beamblets arranged in a 3 × 3 matrix and accelerated up to 60 keV, and its performances are characterized by several diagnostics. Beam diagnostics includes a CMOS linear camera, which collects the photons emitted by the Hα transition due to the beam interaction with the background gas in the drift region. The thesis shows the analysis of the integrated signals of the linear camera, by characterizing beam optics and uniformity at different source and accelerator parameters.
