Technological progress in the field of hearing devices leads us towards a new concept of listening. The focus is on comfort and personal hearing experience up to the conception of the hearing aid as a 360 ° assistant. By retracing the evolution of hearing devices historically, we get to analyze all the audioprosthetic innovations that have allowed, and still allow today, to aim at patient satisfaction, his reintegration as opposed to the isolation that derives from hearing deprivation and a assistance that aims at efficiency and speed in solving problems. The concept of the hearing aid is reinterpreted, enriched and transformed, up to the conception of a necessary and irreplaceable object, capable of monitoring the patient's health and full satisfaction. The future of hearing aids is increasingly aimed at personal care and patient empowerment. He is involved in the decision-making process and in the self-management of the hearing aid, and made more independent so that he does not necessarily have to resort to the intervention of the hearing care professional. The use of bluetooth accessories, technological innovations and the introduction of the app, make the hearing devices real personal assistants, able to make listening comfortable, intuitive to use and manageable the sound experience by customizing it to the maximum according to the user's needs. In the light of this development, the prosthetic choices, on a technological basis, of the Molise population are examined, trying to grasp the ideological and cultural motivations underlying them. From the survey conducted on the territory, together with social and cultural factors, the economic one seems to be decisive in the prosthetic choice that falls on the device provided, especially among the elderly. Little is invested in health. Based on this, I conducted a research on the average annual income of the Molise population and, comparing it with that of other regions, I could see that Molise ranks last with the lowest income. I also investigated the percentage of elderly people present in the region. Comparing this data with that of the rest of Italy, using Istat data, I discovered that my region has the highest percentage of elderly people. Both of these factors certainly influence the choice, directing the patient towards a technology that falls within the cheapest ranges. During my research I came across a Censis survey in which it was emphasized that people with a higher cultural level leaned towards a technologically superior prosthetic choice compared to those with an education level that reaches up to middle school. On the basis of this data, I thought it interesting to investigate this other potentially influential element as well. Molise, in this regard, ranks medially among the regions by level of education. Therefore, this data may not be decisive and in any case it would acquire a meaning of greater importance if investigated in the light of the sales of hearing aids made in each region and perhaps also divided according to the hearing aid company (as the sales strategies are different).
