In the field of mental health we have witnessed an evolution not only of how patients are viewed by professionals, but also of the models that underlie the rehabilitation of people suffering from psychiatric disorders. This new vision of mental illness was accompanied by a reappraisal of practices within psychiatric facilities for diagnosis and treatment. The aim of this dissertation was to try and gather information on the tools that professional educators use in the field of psychiatric rehabilitation. A sample of convenience was chosen by contacting private facilities in the provinces of Padua and Treviso. 30 educators belonging to 15 different facilities joined the study. Data was collected with the use of an ad-hoc questionnaire and it was analysed using the software Excell. The analysis of the collected data showed that evidence-based methodologies are known in all the sampled facilities, and that these methodologies are combined with expressive activities (such as art therapy and music therapy, for instance). We also found that educators seem to involve patients in the decision-making process of their rehabilitation project. Lastly, according to the study, most professional educators use as a theoretical frame of reference recovery and the bio-psycho-social model as basis for their interventions during the rehabilitation of the patient.

Abstract
The analysis of the collected data showed that evidence-based methodologies are known in all the sampled facilities, and that these methodologies are combined with expressive activities (such as art therapy and music therapy, for instance). We also found that educators seem to involve patients in the decision-making process of their rehabilitation project. Lastly, according to the study, most professional educators use as a theoretical frame of reference recovery and the bio-psycho-social model as basis for their interventions during the rehabilitation of the patient.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
