This study explored the tendency to take selfies and its correlation with personality traits, narcissism, self-esteem and internet addiction. Data from the Russian-speaking population from Russia, Ukraine and other countries were compared. A total of 502 adults participated in the online survey (N = 502; M age = 42.69; SD = 8.48; 93.6% female). Participants completed the Selfities Behavior Scale, the Ten-Item Personality Inventory, the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, the Narcissistic Personality Inventory and the Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire. Correlations showed that people with lower self-esteem tend to (ab)use more of internet and smartphones, and exhibit more narcissistic traits. In addition, a strong positive correlation emerged between the abuse of smartphones and Internet and the tendency to take selfies.
