Background Modern-day T2 and T2* mapping techniques allow for precise and quantitative characterization of the myocardial tissue and can be used as a diagnostic tool in various heart conditions such as myocardial infarction, myocarditis, Anderson-Fabry disease and myocardial iron overload without the necessity of invasive exams; to correctly identify these diseases, however, normal values should be established in order to confront them with the data obtained with the mapping techniques. These sets of data differ from center to center based on the sequences used to obtain the images, and on the scanner used to perform the exam: thus, each center should obtain their own set of normal values for T2 and T2* mapping, which can be applied to the sequences used and on the on-site scanner. Objectives The objective of this study was to obtain segmental and global T2 and T2* values of the myocardium in healthy subjects as a normal-value range using T2p-SSFP and MEGE sequences with a Siemens scanner and to establish correlations between these values and the physiological characteristics of the enrolled subjects. Methods 50 healthy subjects aged 20 to 70 years old (male to female ratio 1:1) underwent CMR. Basal, mid-ventricular and apical short axis slices were obtained with T2p-SSFP sequences for T2 evaluation and with Black Blood Multi-Echo Gradient-Echo (MEGE) sequences for T2* evaluation. Image analysis was performed with commercially available post-processing software. T2 and T2* values were evaluated in all 16 left ventricular AHA segment, and the global T2 and T2* values were the average of the single segments’ values. Risultati NON DISPONIBILI Conclusioni NON DISPONIBILI
