The thesis offers an overview of the public use of history in the mass media, focusing on the American example of the removal of monuments dedicated to Christopher Columbus, who from hero of the "discovery" of America and symbol of courage and progress has passed to be considered the culprit of the genocide of Native Americans, colonialism and slavery in the New World.
L'elaborato offre una panoramica sull'uso pubblico della storia nei mezzi di comunicazione di massa, soffermandosi sull'esempio americano degli abbattimenti dei monumenti dedicati a Cristoforo Colombo, che da eroe della "scoperta" dell'America e simbolo di coraggio e di progresso è passato a essere considerato il colpevole del genocidio dei nativi americani, del colonialismo e dello schiavismo nel Nuovo Mondo.
