Il ruolo delle cooperative nell'economia circolare

The paper focuses on the role played by cooperatives in the circular economy, a new economic model which represents an alternative to the linear production model ("produce-use-throw away") that is no longer environmentally sustainable due to the excessive amount of waste produced. The aim is to provide an overview of the situation from an environmental and regulatory point of view, both at European and national level, and to illustrate the objectives set by international bodies, as well as the advantages of this model for the parties involved. Following an initial general analysis of the most widely adopted business models, the focus shifts to the world of cooperatives and how they carry out recovery, re-use and recycling (3R) activities, which are the cardinal principles of the circular model, and in particular the relationships established between cooperatives and local businesses. Finally, the empirical part moves from the study of the Cooperativa Insieme (VI), one of the 22 organisations that are part of the "Rete 14 Luglio", and the enterprises with which it collaborate, to come to broader conclusions.

L'elaborato è incentrato sul ruolo ricoperto dalle società cooperative nell'ambito dell'economia circolare, un nuovo modello di economia che si pone come alternativa a quello di produzione lineare (“produci-usa-getta) che non è più sostenibile dal punto di vista ambientale a causa dell’eccessiva quantità di rifiuti prodotti. L'obiettivo è fornire un quadro della situazione dal punto di vista ambientale e normativo, a livello europeo e nazionale, e illustrare gli obiettivi fissati dagli organismi sovranazionali e i vantaggi derivanti dal modello considerato per gli enti coinvolti. In seguito a una prima analisi generale dei modelli di business maggiormente adottati, l’attenzione si sposta sul mondo delle cooperative e su come esse svolgono le attività di recupero, riutilizzo e riciclo (3R), ossia i principi cardine del modello circolare, e in particolare sui rapporti che si instaurano tra le società cooperative e le imprese del territorio. Infine, la parte empirica muove dallo studio della Cooperativa Insieme (VI), uno dei 22 enti facenti parte della “Rete 14 Luglio”, e delle imprese con cui collabora, per arrivare a considerazioni di portata più ampia.
