The thesis, and the corresponding internship, aim to determine, study, and enhance the fossil remains belonging to the Museum of Geology and Paleontology of the University of Padua. The remains in question had been placed in sealed boxes over the last century and have never been touched. They mainly include fossil bones of cave bears (Ursus sp.), But there are also remains of other species of large mammals, albeit in much smaller numbers. The fossil finds that have been extracted from these crates seem to come from the Pocala cave, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Province of Trieste), although no information has been found within the crates. In the thesis, some general information is given on the different species of cave bear, to which almost all of the fossil finds found in the museum's coffers belong. These remains have been briefly described, cataloged, photographed and determined on a generic and / or supra-generic level. For the more intact ones, determination was also attempted at a specific level. Finally, the most interesting and complete finds have been described in greater detail. These are mainly parts of the skull that allow the animal to be recognized more easily.
