The aim of this thesis is to point out the differences and similarities in the representation of woman in the context of marriage and divorce in the eighteenth century. Specifically, the analysis will be based on the comparison between two plays written in the same English literary period, the Restoration: "The Forc'd Marriage" by Apra Behn and "The Country Wife" by William Whycherley.
L'intento di questa tesi è di esplicitare le diversità e le uguaglianze nella rappresentazione della figura della donna nel contesto del matrimonio e del divorzio. Nello specifico, l'analisi di basa sul confronto di due opere teatrali scritte nello stesso periodo letterario inglese, la Restaurazione: "The Forc'd Marriage" di Apra Behn e "The Country Wife" di William Whycherley.
